AWE-INSPIRING AFRICAN ADVENTURE

Steph shares her experience as an intrepid traveller (and netball enthusiast) as she explored the majestic African continent.

I had the exciting opportunity to attend the 2023 Netball World Cup, hosted in Cape Town, with my sister.

Before the action we enjoyed a stopover in Bangkok, visiting with family, who were our local tour guides for fabulous 4 nights.

After our Bangkok adventure, we then jetted off to Cape Town to enjoy the Quarters, Semis and Finals of the Netball World Cup 2023. It wasn’t quite the results we were going for, but an awesome atmosphere, and brilliantly organised event!

When the netball finished, we had a couple of days relaxing and exploring, then we hopped onto our 21-day Cape Town to Victoria Falls Accommodated safari with Sunway Safari.

Our tour included stops in the Namib Desert, Etosha National Park, Okavango Delta, Chobe National Park and Victoria Falls, with other amazing destinations in between.

Sunway Safari focuses on small group adventure tours with a maximum group size of 12. We loved this as you really got to know everyone on the trip and we were very lucky that we all got on exceptionally well! Our group was made up of people from the UK, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy and New Zealand, so an amazing mix of cultures.

We had a fabulous Tour Guide, Tee-Kay and driver, Alfred, who made our journey both informative and amusing. My favourite tag line from Alfred was “a new day – a new experience” which he said every time we had to try something slightly out of our comfort zone.

An essential part of the tour was participation, from helping with food preparation to help packing up the truck each day.

There were some long days on the bus, but we knew they were always heading to our next stunning destination.

We has the perfect blend of stunning landscapes, we experienced the famous landmarks such as Victoria Falls, along with Living Desert Tour in Swakopmund, the “Big Daddy”, Deadlvei, and Sessrium Canyon in the Namib Desert:

Africa is famous for its incredible wildlife, we were fortunate get get close (but not too close!) to these stunning animals:

We finished out holiday with a 4 night stopover in Singapore.

I loved my time in Singapore, we maximised our time by using the Hop on Hop off Bus to travel all around all the main sights of Singapore (including the incredible Supertree Grove), before deciding where we wanted to spend more time exploring.

Singapore is a city of combined cultures so there is some delicious cuisine to be had from local hawker stalls to 5 star dining experiences.

Overall, we both loved our trip and would recommend Africa to anyone for for a unique cultural experience, coupled with stunning landscapes.
