About the Ship

Kindat Pandaw

The original Kindat Pandaw, constructed in 1886 by Yarrows in London and named after a small Upper Chindwin town, met an untimely end in 1920. Building upon the successes and lessons learned from the Katha and Angkor Pandaws, the 2014 reconstruction of the Kindat refined the concept of a two-deck shallow draft vessel. Its sister ship, the Kalaw, followed suit, embodying this perfected design.

What emerged was a remarkably shallow draft vessel in 2014, capable of navigating almost any waterway at any time, while accommodating 30-40 passengers comfortably. Achieving this feat involved significant weight reduction and a streamlined hull and superstructure. The vessel’s design ingeniously catered to diverse passenger preferences, with a flexible bistro space offering both indoor and outdoor dining options, tailored to seasonal inclinations. This thoughtful approach ensured a delightful and adaptable dining experience, contributing to the overall satisfaction of passengers aboard.
